boeq includes a 30-day free trial with full functionality, so nobody has to buy blind. Use the real app on your real books before you decide.
What the licence grants
A one-time purchase of €129 buys a perpetual licence: it does not expire, and there is no subscription. The licence is granted per user, for your own personal or business use, and covers installing and running boeq on your own Macs and iPhones/iPads. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the software or your licence to anyone else.
Optional core updates
Roughly every two years we release a core update — new tax tables, new features, continued compatibility with new macOS/iOS releases — available for an optional fee of around €39. Paying it is entirely your choice: if you skip an update, the version of boeq you already have keeps working exactly as it does today. There is no forced upgrade and no feature that stops working because you didn't pay.
Buying
Through the App Store (iOS). Purchases made through Apple's App Store are governed by Apple's own Media Services Terms and Usage Rules, in addition to this licence.
Direct purchase (macOS DMG). If you buy the notarized macOS build directly from us, you're a consumer buying digital content online, which under Dutch law (Art. 6:230o BW) normally comes with a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because boeq is downloadable software, the standard digital-content exception applies (Art. 6:230t BW): if you ask us for immediate delivery and expressly confirm that you understand you lose the withdrawal right once delivery starts, that right lapses at the point of download. Short version: try the 30-day trial first if you want to be sure — once you buy the direct download and confirm immediate delivery, the sale is final.
Your data and backups
boeq is local-first: your bookkeeping data lives only on your device. You are responsible for keeping your own backups — the optional encrypted iCloud Drive backup built into the app is there to help, but it's yours to set up and maintain. If you set a backup passphrase and lose it, that backup is unrecoverable; we have no way to reset it or read its contents, by design.
Not tax or accounting advice
boeq is a bookkeeping tool. It helps you record, organise, and prepare your figures, including VAT calculations based on versioned tax tables — but it does not constitute tax, legal, or accounting advice, and using it doesn't replace professional judgment for decisions that matter. When in doubt, check with an accountant or the Belastingdienst.
Warranty and liability
boeq is provided "as is." This doesn't affect the statutory conformity rights you have as a consumer under Dutch and EU law — those remain fully in place. Beyond what the law requires, our liability for any claim arising from your use of boeq is limited to the amount you actually paid for the licence, to the extent that limitation is permitted by law.
